Omitron, Inc. is looking for a Mid-to-Senior Software Engineer to join our team in our Colorado Springs, CO office. This role will be an integral part of the Perseus software development team, contributing to the operational scripts and applications supporting the US Space Force’s Space Situational Awareness and Space Domain Awareness mission areas. The applications we develop handle data management, complex data processing, and astrodynamics operations for current DoD operations and solve real world problems for the analysts and technicians. This position requires candidates to be in our offices Hybrid-to-Full Time, depending on project needs.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $180,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.

Responsibilities:
- Maintain software utilities in various coding languages to include Perl, Python2, Python3, Shell, and Fortran
- Create new Python3 applications aligned with requirements and priorities set by the Perseus Lead Engineer
- Review software of team members and provide feedback
- Create and execute software test plans for products of the Perseus team
- Implement modern software development practices, including integrated testing, version control (GIT), and a robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with senior engineers on the Perseus project.
- Establish and maintain a functional test and development environment to facilitate team member onboarding and initiation
Minimum Requirements:
- Security Clearance: None required, but candidates must be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Astrodynamics, or related field with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in software development or astrodynamics engineering.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Fortran, Perl, Python3, Shell scripting (Bash or Csh).
- Solid experience with GIT or equivalent source control systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to drive solutions and improvements in a specialized domain.
- Self-motivated with excellent time-management, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Proven experience working with AGILE methodologies in a collaborative team environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience combining both software development and astrodynamics engineering.
- Experience in the specific domain of space situational awareness
- Hands-on experience with GitLab and Atlassian Toolsets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
- Experience developing and maintaining unit tests, managing code via a CI/CD pipeline, and ensuring robust software delivery.
- Strong understanding of modern object-oriented programming practices and performance optimization techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Current DoD Security Clearance is a plus.
