Omitron is seeking a Senior BASH and PERL Scripter to join our team in Alexandria, VA. Scripter will create, modify, maintain and optimize scripts supporting government provided software to minimize operator input for conducting routine screening of satellite orbits for potential safety of flight risks to orbiting satellites. As they perform operations, they will be taught the technical complexities and processes of supporting multiple satellite constellations at the peak of U.S. satellite technology. These operations support all phases of the satellite life cycle from development, launch, operations, anomaly troubleshooting, passivation, and reentry. The Senior Scripter will learn from senior scientists, mid-level engineers, and partner organizations to develop their skills and build them into members of the best spaceflight safety operations team. They will teach junior and mid-level scripters to read and support the existing code base.

The salary range for this role is $180,000 to $215,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, technical expertise, certifications, security clearance, geographic location, internal equity, market conditions, contract requirements, and other factors.

Responsibilities:
- Examine inputs and outputs to/from multiple interfaces for U.S. satellite programs. Design, build, modify, and maintain scripts to organize, modify, or create inputs and outputs for provided software to optimize performance.
- Interface with multiple satellite constellation operators to provide information on aerospace systems, new programs, and retiring programs.
- Work with subject matter experts in outer space environment and spaceflight hazards for space enterprise to understand design requirements.
- Learn system functions and troubleshoot basic failures and anomalies.
- Submit system reports on performance and deficiency
- Work with advanced analysts and system tier support to create scripts to resolve challenges in support of ongoing operations.
- Prepare and give briefings to mid and senior-level management on scripting support to satellite and space-related activities.
- Maintain documentation and clean coding practices to describe scripts to other scripters, government oversight, and aerospace experts.
- Be adaptable to changing priorities in an operations environment.
- Work is 100% on-site and cannot be accomplished remotely.
- US Citizenship required
- Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI security clearance with CI Polygraph required
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar STEM degree.
- Experience: 12+ years of prior relevant experience in BASH, PERL, or Python scripting for complex programs.
- Knowledge in multiple scripting languages
- Red Hat Linux experience
- Windows experience
- Strong skill set with Microsoft Office software applications
- Experience serving government customers
Compensation and Benefits:
