Omitron is seeking a Junior Test Engineer to support software quality assurance and verification activities for the SOLACE program in Colorado Springs, CO. In this role, you will contribute to testing and validation of mission-critical Space Domain Awareness (SDA) command-and-control software supporting operational spaceflight safety and decision-making.
You will work closely with software engineers, system engineers, and senior test personnel to execute test cases, validate system behavior, and ensure the reliability of data processing workflows. This role focuses on functional testing, integration support, and developing foundational skills in automated testing and validation of complex software systems.
This role operates in a hybrid model with periodic in-office presence in Colorado Springs (~1–2 days per week) to support integration, testing, and collaboration activities.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute test cases based on system and software requirements
- Perform functional and integration testing across development and test environments
- Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers to support resolution
- Validate data processing workflows and system outputs for correctness and consistency
- Support regression testing and verification of new software features
- Assist in developing and maintaining automated test scripts under guidance of senior engineers
- Contribute to test documentation, including test procedures and results
- Support integration and validation activities across system components
- Participate in iterative or hybrid development cycles, including test planning and coordination
- Continuously develop technical skills and apply feedback to improve testing effectiveness
Minimum Requirements:
- US Citizenship required
- Security Clearance: No clearance required to start. Must be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance if needed
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
- Experience: 0–2 years of experience in software testing or development (internships and academic projects considered)
- Foundational understanding of software testing concepts and development lifecycle
- Basic familiarity with a programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and follow structured testing processes
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship or academic experience in software testing or development
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Exposure to automated testing tools or frameworks
- Experience working with structured data (e.g., JSON, XML, or similar)
- Interest in aerospace, space operations, or mission-critical systems
- Exposure to Agile or hybrid development environments
